Challenging Boredom through Constructive Engagement

Updated: Jun 13, 2020

A child's everyday experience can be a rich resource of social-emotional growth.

As a parent or educator, you can do some of these activities with the children. Some of the activities can be done at home too!

Activity 1. Think, Feel, Care - Choose a particular person from a system (e.g. doctor in a hospital) and perform reflective exercises based on a set of questions.

For instance, ask them to think and share about the role of the person in the hospital, about things that are important to them, about their feelings or challenges.

Activity 2. Documenting the Everyday - This can include making paintings or drawings of their home environment. Or writing a diary about their daily experiences.

Activity 3. Imagine If - In this activity you can imagine the student to be any individual in a system, like a minister in the government. Ask them to share what they will do, how will they change things, how will they make everything better and so on.
